I purchased this feeder because of the continuous problems we were having with squirrels visiting the feeders with a different design. I had seen the Brome feeder in a bird store while on vacation so I knew the construction was excellent. It took a few days for the birds to find the feeder, but now there is quite a variety of regular visitors. We are not having the problem with squirrels that we had with our non-squirrel proof feeders.

We've had many bird feeders over the years, and never have we found one that was truly squirrel-proof, until now. The Brome 1051 Squirrel Buster Classic bird feeder ia amazing. It is funny and reassuring to watch the squirrels unsuccessfully try to outsmart this feeder and get at the birdseed. Instead, they have resigned to eating the seed scattered on the ground by the happy birds. Important note, however- follow the directions for placement exactly. The feeder needs to be at least 16 inches away from any branch to foil a squirrels attempt at reaching the seed outlets without placing their feet (and weight) on the perch, and the top needs to be "locked" on the feeder per instructions (to prevent a squirrel from holding onto the wire and reaching into the top.) I highly recommend this feeder.

I have very persistent squirrels (I sort of tamed them so what did I expect...) that would consume their own food and then rob the bird feeders. After years of frustration and trying everything I could think of to foil them including greasing the pole (Surely,someone else has tried that. My husband thought I was nuts.)I finally sucked it up and shelled out the bucks for this one. It's wonderful and it's a joy to see the squirrels swinging on it and GETTING NOTHING!! And, the food doesn't drop out when they swing on it, either. Wish I had bought it years ago...!
